Sleep apnea is a condition that causes breathing to stop briefly during sleep and is often associated with snoring. Here are some common procedures in snoring and sleep apnea surgery:\r\n

1. Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP)\r\n<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nIn this procedure, excess tissue in the uvula, soft palate, and back of the throat is removed. The goal is to widen the airways and improve airflow.\r\n\r\nApplications<\/b>: UPPP is typically used for patients with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n

2.<\/strong> Extended Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (EUPP)\r\n<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nThis is a more extensive version of UPPP. More tissue is removed to further widen the airways.\r\n\r\nApplications<\/b>: It may be applied in severe cases of obstructive sleep apnea.\r\n

3. Genioglossus Advancement\r\n<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nThe back of the tongue is advanced toward the jawbone. This prevents the tongue from blocking the airway during sleep.\r\n\r\nApplications<\/b>: Used in patients with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n

4. Maxillomandibular Advancement (MMA)\r\n<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nThe upper and lower jaw are moved forward. This widens the airways and improves airflow.\r\n\r\nApplications<\/b>: Used in severe sleep apnea cases when other surgical options are insufficient.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n

5. Nasal Surgery\r\n<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nProcedures like septoplasty, turbinate reduction, and other nasal surgeries are performed to open nasal airways. 7. Tongue Base Radiofrequency Ablation\r\n<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nRadiofrequency energy is used to shrink excess tissue at the base of the tongue, opening the airways.\r\n\r\nApplications<\/b>: For patients with sleep apnea caused by obstruction at the base of the tongue.\r\n

8. Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation\r\n<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nA device is implanted to stimulate the hypoglossal nerve. This increases muscle tone in the tongue, preventing it from blocking the airway during sleep.\r\n\r\nApplications<\/b>: Used for patients with moderate to severe sleep apnea who do not respond to CPAP therapy.\r\n

9. Tracheostomy\r\n<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nA small hole is made in the neck to create a direct airway to the trachea. \nI was suffering from empty nose syndrome. For those who don't know, I should say that almost all of my nasal tissue was removed. It is a very bad disease. I went to 100 ENT doctors in Istanbul and they couldn't find a solution. Finally, I found Deniz Hoca, who is an expert in this field, and he took cartilage from my rib and performed the surgery and I got better. \nI had a nose surgery 3.5 months ago. The surgery and recovery process went great. There are a few things you should pay attention to after the surgery, they don't affect your quality of life too much. The doctor makes you feel very comfortable about that because it's not as complicated as you think. Other than that, I can breathe easily now, which is the most important thing.
