Rhinoplasty, or nose reshaping surgery, is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries. The procedure can involve reducing or enlarging the nose, reshaping the nasal tip, removing bumps, narrowing the nostrils, or adjusting the angle between the nose and the upper lip. Additionally, deviations in the nasal bone, traumatic deformities, or certain breathing difficulties can be corrected.

Who is an Ideal Candidate for Aesthetic Nose Surgery?
Aesthetic nose surgery can enhance your appearance and boost self-confidence. It is also suitable for those with functional problems. However, it does not guarantee that your appearance will perfectly align with your expectations or that others will treat you differently after surgery. Before deciding, consider why you want the surgery and what you expect from it, and discuss these with your surgeon. Ideal candidates for rhinoplasty are those who seek improvement rather than perfection, hoping for a better appearance and nasal health.

Is There an Age Limit for Surgery?
It’s preferable to wait until adolescence is complete. Generally, this is around 16-17 for girls and a bit later for boys. It’s important that the decision is the individual’s, not the family’s, taking into account the person’s social and emotional maturity.
Are There Risks Involved in Surgery?
When performed by an experienced ENT specialist, complications are rare and generally minor. However, there’s always a risk of complications, such as infection, nosebleeds, or reactions to anesthesia. Post-surgery, small red spots might appear on the skin’s surface from ruptured capillaries. Visible scars are uncommon, but if nostril narrowing is needed, tiny scars at the base of the nose may be present but usually unnoticeable. Approximately one in ten cases may require a second corrective surgery, which is typically minor.
How is the Surgery Planned?
Effective communication with your doctor is essential. During the initial consultation, your surgeon will ask about your desired appearance and examine your nose and facial structure to discuss possibilities. Topics of discussion include your nasal bone and cartilage structure, face shape, skin thickness, age, and expectations. Your surgeon will also explain anesthesia, surgical techniques, risks, costs, and any alternatives.
Be sure to inform your surgeon about any prior nasal surgeries, treatments, allergies, breathing issues, medications, and smoking habits. If necessary, additional examinations, like an endoscopy, might be conducted. Feel free to ask any questions regarding your expectations and outcomes.

Pre-Surgery Preparations
Your surgeon will provide instructions on eating, drinking, smoking, taking certain vitamins, and medications, as well as how to prepare for the procedure. Following these instructions will aid in a smoother surgery experience.
What Type of Anesthesia is Used?
Aesthetic nose surgery is performed under general anesthesia.

What is the Surgical Procedure Like?
Rhinoplasty typically takes 4-6 hours. During the surgery, the nasal skin is separated from the bone and cartilage framework. The reshaping depends on the existing issue and the surgeon’s chosen technique. Finally, the skin is adapted to the new structure. Most ENT specialists prefer the open technique, which involves a small incision on the columella, the strip of tissue separating the nostrils. After surgery, a plaster cast is placed on the nose to maintain its new shape, and silicone splints are inserted to stabilize the septum.

Post-Surgery Care
For the first 24 hours post-surgery, you may experience swelling in the face, nasal pain, or a mild headache, which can be managed with prescribed painkillers. Plan to rest with your head elevated to minimize swelling. Cold compresses can also help alleviate swelling. Most swelling and any bruising should subside within the first week, though minor residual swelling may take 6 months to a year to completely resolve.

A slight nasal discharge is common in the first few days, and you may feel mild congestion for several weeks. You’ll be advised not to blow your nose for 3-4 weeks, and instead to use nasal rinses from a pharmacy. If splints are used, they’ll be removed after 4-5 days, after which you should feel more comfortable. Most dressings and the cast on your nose are removed by the end of the second week.
When Can You Return to Normal Life?
Most patients can get up and walk around within two days and return to school or light work a week after surgery. However, it may take several weeks to fully resume daily activities. Your surgeon will provide detailed guidance on your recovery.
Post-Surgery Precautions
For two to three weeks, avoid strenuous activities (such as running, swimming, gymnastics, sex, or anything that increases blood pressure), and protect your nose from impacts for six months. Be gentle with your face while washing, and be cautious with makeup application.

While wearing contact lenses is permitted, wearing glasses is different. After the cast is removed, avoid placing the weight of glasses on the nose bridge for about 3 months until it fully heals. Your surgeon will arrange follow-up appointments over the next year to monitor your healing.
When Will You See the Final Results?
The full result of a rhinoplasty can take 6 months to 2 years, depending on skin thickness and other factors; thick skin may take longer to adjust.

Post-Surgery Guidelines
The recovery process requires patience and adherence to aftercare instructions. Actively participating in your recovery is just as important as the surgery itself. Some key recommendations include:
- Due to nasal splints, you may need to breathe through your mouth initially.
- Keep hydrated to alleviate mouth dryness, and eat soft, easy-to-chew foods.
- Use only prescribed medications and avoid aspirin or blood-thinning drugs.
- Keep your head elevated to reduce swelling.
- Slightly pink or light red nasal discharge is normal, but contact your doctor if you see bright red blood.
- Do not tamper with the nasal cast or dressings; they are removed by the surgeon.
- For two weeks, avoid heavy lifting, bending, or vigorous exercise.
- Protect your nose from direct sunlight until bruising fades.
- Minor numbness in the nasal tip and upper lip may occur but should resolve in a few weeks.
- Once splints are removed, you may use makeup to cover any bruising.
- Schedule and attend all post-surgery follow-up appointments, generally after 1 week, 12-15 days, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months.
- Avoid wearing glasses unless absolutely necessary for 3 months.
Following these aftercare steps is vital to ensure a smooth and successful recovery. Consult your doctor if you have any concerns during your recovery journey.
I spent two years going from hospital to hospital but couldn't find a solution. I found healing here. Thank you very much, doctor.
Last August, I went to see my doctor for pressure in my ears and dizziness. After a series of tests, I was diagnosed with vestibular migraine. After using the prescribed medication, my symptoms decreased by 99%. I cannot thank Dr. Mustafa and his team enough. Furthermore, their prompt responses to my questions via WhatsApp during this period are proof of how seriously they take their work. I wholeheartedly recommend them to everyone.
Hello, I went to see Dr. Deniz three months ago because of my vertigo, and I'm so glad I did. I'd been to so many doctors before, but they couldn't diagnose me. I tried various medications, but nothing helped. I was going to the emergency room every two days for IV fluids. While researching on Google, I found out Dr. Deniz had a clinic specializing in vertigo, and based on the reviews, I made an appointment and went. He diagnosed me with vestibular vertigo, and I've been taking medication for three months now. Thank God, I'm feeling much better. May God bless Dr. Deniz and his team. Thank you.
My wife had chronic allergies that caused swelling in her nasal passages and difficulty breathing. She coughed a lot because she couldn't breathe properly. We did a lot of research and heard that Dr. Mustafa was experienced in this field. Thankfully, her breathing improved and her cough disappeared after the turbinate surgery. You can definitely choose him. We are so glad we chose you, Doctor. Thank you for your expertise and hard work.
We met Dr. Deniz because of my mother's vertigo attacks. Her vertigo had become chronic; for two years, she had been experiencing prolonged attacks almost every two months, accompanied by persistent balance problems, making her life difficult. Dr. Deniz and his team first identified the underlying cause and trigger of the vertigo and began treatment accordingly. For the first time, the vertigo attack lasted this short, and the balance problems that had persisted for two years completely disappeared. Dr. Deniz is already excellent at his job, but his audiologist colleagues are also among the best in their field. If you have a complaint like vertigo, you can confidently entrust yourself to Dr. Deniz and his team.
I have been living with Meniere's disease for 2 years. I experience buzzing and ringing in my right ear, dizziness, and hearing loss... I previously consulted two professors. Both gave the same diagnosis. They said there is no cure for this disease and that I have to live with it. Through a friend, I met Professor Deniz. He said the opposite, that the attacks of this disease can be slowed down or stopped. He performed a series of tests in his clinic and started medication. My treatment has been ongoing for 3.5 months, and my attacks have decreased. I no longer constantly feel dizzy. I thank him and his team very much 😇 I wish everyone healthy days.
Many thanks to my dear doctor. I was in critical condition, barely able to stand, and with his accurate diagnosis, he got me back on my feet. I've completed my 6th month of treatment and I feel like I've been reborn. I realize what I've been going through for so many years. My endless thanks to the healthcare team and my doctor.
I have been suffering from Vertigo Meniere for 5 years. I went to all the doctors but couldn't find a cure. Then I went to Dr. Deniz Yılmaz. After the injection treatment in my ear, I regained my health. May God bless Dr. Deniz. I thank Dr. Deniz and recommend him to everyone.
I would like to thank my esteemed doctor very much. Despite being a chronic heart patient, he dispelled all my fears during the operation process. I am very happy with my nose now 🙂
So great Doctor! My little girl had Orta Otitis with drainage and perforation, we had treatment in Side, two different doctors, one first in Devlet Hastanesi, second good Doctor in Akdeniz Hastanesi. But they were good in general treatment. Our treatment wasn’t ordinary, because the drainage didn’t stop for 14 days. Previous doctors said “Don’t worry, treatment works”. Drainage is just the rest of the infection. We waited and waited and nothing changed. When we came to Professor Dr Mustafa Deniz, he saw at first sight that only antibiotic injections will help and in addition wrote some drops. Two days later drainage stopped. He also made great cleaning of the ear. He definitely knows how to work with children and with worrying parents😅😅 Thank you 🙏 Dr. Mustafa, Elinize sağlık!
There is no way to repay the effort that Professor Deniz put into my treatment; he is a truly great doctor. Thanks to him, I was cured of my vertigo, a problem that 10 other doctors couldn't solve. Professor, I'm so glad you exist; I can't thank you enough. In my opinion, he is one of the unparalleled doctors in Turkey. May God keep you with us; thank you very much.
I had vertigo for 20 years. I came to see Dr. Deniz a year ago. I'm much better now; before, I couldn't even go out alone. Now I can do everything on my own. I want to thank him and audiologist Simge for their help. You can go to them with peace of mind.
